Letter to Rt. Honourable Tony Blair P.M

Rt. Honourable Tony Blair-M.P

10 Downing Street

London SW1V

Dear Prime Minister

I write to you as a British citizen from the Oromo ethnic group.

The Oromo community in the United Kingdom has long been appealing to your office on behalf of our people, to use your influence to bring pressure to bear on the Ethiopian government to stop its inhumane policy of arresting and detaining, torturing, and killing the Oromo.

Unfortunately, the situation has got from bad to worse. We are very disturbed by the latest news from Ethiopia regarding gross violations of human rights against the Oromo people.

We have learnt that the Ethiopian government has stepped up its indiscriminate killings, mass arrests, imprisonment and torture of thousands of Oromo civilians all over Oromia. Even more disturbing is the fact that those who were murdered in cold blood were denied decent burial.

I appeal to you to use the influence of your good office, to bring pressure to bear on the Ethiopian government, to respect the human rights of the Oromo people.

I thank you for your attention to my letter.

Yours sincerely

Lydia Namarra

CC The Rt.Honourable, David Lammy-MP- Haringey
